Iza San is a charismatic oriental dancer who could lead us to believe, through the enchantment of her movements, that she’s dancing straight out of a Thousand and One Nights tales. After more than 10 years of passion for Middle Eastern dance, commonly known as baladi, bellydance or oriental dance, Iza is one of Montreal’s privileged dancers who are able to live from their art. She offers quality shows throughout Quebec and Ontario. In 2015, Iza was the daily dancer of a prestigious 5 stars hotel in Jordan. Iza San is a multi-award winning artist who has been recognized by her peers in Quebec and internationally, thanks to her quality of movement, her musicality and her ease with the public. Iza has, among others, won the title of Miss Starlette 2014 at Miami’s Rakstar festival and People’s choice award at AQDO Bellydance competition, 4 years in a row.
IZA’S JOURNEY
Iza San was initiated in dance at the age of 5 through classical ballet and ballet jazz. It was in 2006 that Iza finally found her way discovering oriental dance (Bellydance/ Middle Eastern dance). She fell in love! Iza has studied bellydance with different teachers during the same period and was introduced to Tribal Fusion. Since then, Iza San has followed several intensive workshops in Canada, in the United States and in Ukraine to perfect her techniques in different folk and modern dance styles. In addition, Iza has been perfecting her ballet and contemporary dance vocabulary by studying dance at Cégep St-Laurent in Montreal.
Iza San’s Journey wouldn’t have been the same without having met wonderful dancers in several collectives (So You Think You Can Dance Canada 2011, Ethereal Tribal, Ballet Oriental du Canada, Ya Eshta, Bellysimas).
She has been teaching since 2009, has performed weekly in restaurants in Montreal and Laval since 2013 and has danced in special events in Canada, USA, Hungary and Ukraine.
